among all of the things that amaze me about Marc Bergevin's incompetence as a GM, the prospect situation really takes the cake. typically when you see a group of prospects as lousy as Montreal's, it's because a team has spent years supplementing an "in its prime" core through the trading of picks and prospects. but this is not the case in Montreal. to oversee such poor prospect depth organization-wide while also doing nothing to improve the current NHL group is no small feat, and Marc Bergevin should take a bow. it's not easy to accomplish so little in 4 years but he makes it look that way.

Good blog.

I'm still amazed that Bergiven still has a job. He has very little to improve the Habs team. He's big 3 moves would be brining in Vanek as a rental (little effect on the team), brining in and signing Petry (decent d-man, but not a guy who will play on a top pairing), and drafting Galgenyuk (not really a hard decision to make). Aside from those moves, he's made bottom depth moves which make next to no difference and has basically tried to wait and see if Carey Price can play god. He has not made an impactful trade involving his own roster players (above 4th line quality). To me he's just to afraid to take a chance on a trade and just wants to sit back and hope things work out.

Will be interesting to see what he does at the draft. He's already given a vote of confidence to the coach, so something on the roster need to change, but probably just go with the Carey Price strategy instead.

It's remarkable.

names you hear mentioned:

Sherbak, Reway, Lehkonen not one potential top line guy among them.
